INTRODUCE YOUR BRAND

In loving memory of

Daniel Honerbrink, FACHE, FHFMA

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we must announce the passing of one of our most beloved executive board members, Daniel Honerbrink, who left us too early on Monday at the age of 65. Dan was a wonderful leader and mentor to many—a truly selfless individual who dedicated his life in service to our country, his family, the healthcare industry, and our chapter.

For those of you who had the privilege of meeting Dan, you likely remember his kind spirit, keen intellect, and congenial nature. Dan was a master of finance, a man who loved balanced budgets and a healthy margin. This love for financial literacy began early in his life at the age of 12, when he told his mother that he believed he could balance their family budget better than she could (he quickly learned he couldn’t!). Dan held the role of Chief Financial Officer for various organizations over the course of his career, including at HCA and at Florida Hospital, and more recently worked as the AVP of Business Development in Ambulatory Services for Orlando Health.

As our chapter Treasurer, Dan managed and protected the integrity of our chapter’s finances while eagerly seeking opportunities to “Do Some Good.” In addition to his dedication to our local chapter, Dan was also heavily involved in HFMA, held the fellow credential in both organizations and actively volunteered for various local ACHE and HFMA chapters for over 30 years.

When he wasn’t engaged in his work or various volunteer roles, Dan continued to look for opportunities to make a difference. He was the type of person who would actively search for the unmet and sometimes even uncommunicated needs of others in the hope of filling them. He was a true servant leader, a man who wanted nothing more than to help others leave their day a little happier and more at peace than when they started it.

As a chapter, we are preparing and planning how best to honor Dan’s legacy and will be communicating our plans soon.  To Dan’s family, we extend our arms to share comfort and love. To the Orlando Health family, we stand with you in grieving the loss of an esteemed colleague and leader. And to our ACHECF membership, let us treasure Dan’s legacy, model his passion for excellence and can-do spirit, and honor our friend.

With gratitude and appreciation for the time we had with you, Farewell, Dan.
